On March 17 and 18, 2025, our team gathered at Etelsen Castle for the annual Lifespan AI Retreat. The two-day meeting provided the ideal setting for in-depth professional exchange and the development of creative ideas.

In a focused yet open atmosphere, participants discussed current research findings, expanded the connections between subprojects, and strengthened interdisciplinary dialogue within the group. Prof. Dr. Martin Mundt, who was recently appointed to the University of Bremen, provided exciting insights into the latest developments and challenges in the field of lifelong machine learning during his keynote address, “From Isolated to Lifelong Learning in Deep Neural Networks.” In addition to the scientific sessions, joint activities and informal conversations also helped foster team cohesion and gain new perspectives for future collaboration. During the relaxed evening wrap-up, which included a stroll through the castle park, all participants had the chance to test their trivia knowledge in a special Lifespan AI quiz.
