BBDC 2023: With new structure into the competition

The wait is over: The eighth “Bremen Big Data Challenge“ (BBDC) will launch on March 1st, 2023!

The BBDC is a programming challenge that focuses on data analysis, hosted by the Cognitive Systems Lab at the University of Bremen. It is sponsored by “JUST ADD AI“, “neuland – Büro für Informatik“, and “Die Sparkasse Bremen“. The BBDC is supported by the Alfred-Wegener-Institut (Helmholtz-Zentrum für Polar- und Meeresforschung), the high-profile area “Minds, Media, Machines“, and the “DICE“ research group (Paderborn University).

New this year: The BBDC will have a Competition Space and within this space it will offer a Student Track and a Professional Track. This creates two difficulty levels that address different target groups, i.e. for the first time, non-students can participate.

The cash prizes for the Student Track are sponsored by the companies “JUST ADD AI“ and “neuland – Büro für Informatik“ as well as by “Die Sparkasse Bremen“. They range from 100 Euro (5th place) to 500 Euro (1st place). In both tracks (Student and Professional), the winning teams will each be rewarded with a trophy, places 1-5 with medals, and all participants of the 30 best teams with attractive non-cash prizes.

This year’s challenge will run from March 1st at 00:00 AM until March 31st at 11:59 PM, 2023.
