The research group presented its findings at the Bremen Symposium on AI in Health, which was organized by the U Bremen Research Alliance on December 2 and 3, 2024. More than 200 participants from all over Germany attended the symposium at the Bremen State Parliament. Key topics included sustainable, innovative solutions for personalized and resilient healthcare that address the challenges of demographic change, the shortage of skilled workers, and rising costs.

The “Lifespan AI” session provided the perfect setting to present past highlights and current developments in Lifespan AI to an interdisciplinary audience. The speaker duo, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tanja Schultz and Prof. Dr. Marvin Wright, along with Lifespan PhD students, presented their findings in a poster session and discussed them with interested attendees. The focus was on AI methods and tools such as machine learning techniques and deep learning models that model, predict, and explain the onset of diseases over the course of a lifetime. These methods process, in particular, high-dimensional, life-span data to uncover the causes of complex diseases and optimize prevention strategies. The long-standing institutional collaboration between the University of Bremen and the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology – BIPS was also highlighted.
