On April 17, 2023, the long-awaited recruiting workshop for DFG AI Research Group 5347, “Lifespan AI: From Longitudinal Health Data to Lifespan Inference,” took place. The goal of the event was to attract young talent from around the world to the research group’s doctoral positions. In preparation, the job postings were prominently advertised through a wide variety of channels. As a result, we were pleased to welcome a large number of highly qualified applicants who participated in the online workshop.
During the workshop, all participants were first informed about the research group’s goals and research areas. In several rounds of interviews, the applicants had the opportunity to introduce themselves and their project ideas, as well as answer questions from the principal investigators. The applications were evaluated according to a comprehensive set of criteria in the spirit of selecting the best candidates. Following the workshop, the candidates who were able to succeed in this highly competitive environment received offers. We are very pleased to have expanded our interdisciplinary team with motivated doctoral students who actively support the research work and bring new perspectives to the project.
