How could AI help identify Alzheimer’s risks earlier? ZDFheute reports on our Lifespan AI research project and the IJCAI international AI conference in Bremen.

How might risks of Alzheimer’s disease and other conditions be identified earlier? This is one of the questions at the heart of our research project, Lifespan AI. In a feature on IJCAI 2026 in Bremen, ZDFheute reports on our research and the potential of using artificial intelligence to analyse health data from different stages of life.
The project aims to identify patterns that may indicate an increased risk of disease before symptoms appear. To do this, it brings together epidemiological data and information on lifestyle and living conditions. Lifespan AI involves, among others, the University of Bremen, BIPS and the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Medicine MEVIS.
The feature also highlights the importance of using such insights responsibly. ZDFheute reports on other AI research in Bremen featured at IJCAI 2026 as well.
